As the Christmas season nears, the market stalls and exhibition halls of London are full of seasonal shopping events. While many include repackaged retail product, one event tends to stand out from the crowd, the Country Living Magazine Christmas Fair, held between the 11th and 15th November 2009, which brought together a number of unique local products from around the country. Highlights of which follow:
-The Caurnie Soaperie: A family business, one of the oldest soaperies in Scotland who, among their unique products, feature a Nettle soap designed for those who suffer from ecezema or psoriasis.
-Halinka’s Fairies: A startup providing some beautiful handmade fairies with which to decorate your tree or even have laying around the place, perhaps clinging onto the mistletoe.
-Hide UK: Some of the nicest bespoke Argentinian cow hide bags and accessories designed by two friends.
-Glass Cathedrals: Three dimensional creative figure designs, many putting across rather amusing concepts such as one glass box featuring a tiny 2cm tall man painting the back wall in glitter black, complete with a ladder entitled the Night Job.
Those looking for something fun and unique will, after battling through the crowds, find many exciting products which cannot be found on the high street. A short video clip slideshow of some event highlights can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQYBlyyGPLs
