It is not everyday dreams come true, but for one lucky person, 2010 may indeed fulfill  the dreams of a handful. Consider this, being paid to shop. Yes, you read that correctly. One luck person will win a one-month long contract to shop with letsbuyit.com
.

The recently launched competition is open for all. Individuals are required to complete a short 10 question form followed by submitting a video on why they should be selected as a shopping consultant.

Sure, the contract is only for one month, but this is no ordinary job. In the midst of a recession - at least here in the UK - aside from being paid 5,000 Euros for 4 weeks work, the winner will have to 'suffer' business class travel around the world visiting destinations such as New York, Toyko, Hong Kong, Milan, Berlin, Paris and London. Worse, they will somehow have to find a way to spend a further 10,000 euros on shopping. *sigh* Not only are you paid to shop, but you also have a healthy shopping budget to spend at the same time!

Speaking of the proposition, Pauline Dubuc, a co-managing director of letsbuyit.co.uk writes: “We’re not necessarily looking for someone with bags of experience, however the candidate must have a real passion and expertise for shopping. We will need someone with a huge amount of stamina though, as you’ll be travelling to all four corners of the globe and pounding miles of pavement!” Thankfully, with support from Accor hotels those who are traveling the globe will find ease and comfort in their luxury hotels.

It should be pointed out that while you can easily spend 10,000 Euros in just one luxury store, buying just one single item - a trip to Cartier in Paris for example may net you one very small, but beautiful diamond - this journey is more about the experience, the ability to find unique product. Further the winner will be required to author a blog along their journey, looking for shopping venues that add a little flair to the ordinary. As a concept and opportunity, this really is something unique.

Of course it comes of no surprise that the majority of applicants thus far are women, after all, any sale, anywhere in the world, often has long lines of girls waiting to snap up the latest bargain. That said, there are a number of male applicants as well with my own effort - the result of a dare to enter - found here:

Why not take the plunge and apply? The deadline for applications is December 14th. Good luck to any who seek to enter, who knows, you could be contracted for the second best job in the world!
